Another Heat Wave

It's felt like Armageddon this week here in Europe. Thursday brought record breaking temperatures across England, Holland, Germany, Belgium, and all over the place. Of course my corner of the office doesn't have air conditioning, but at least I have it at home. Oh... wait.

Since these heat waves seem to be a yearly thing now, I'm probably going to have to invest in an air conditioner, even if it's just to cool down my bedroom in the evenings.

Transformers

Back in my adolescence and teenage years, I thought the British Transformers comic was one of the greatest things in the world. I read my issues from cover to cover, and practically have them memorized. Now, over twenty years later, I met the men behind the comic, and got to ask them the questions I've been pondering all this time. And par for the course, I made a big fool of myself, by talking too much!

Sports Day 2019

Last Sunday was quite a day for sports. Lewis Hamilton won the British Grand Prix, Novak Djokovic won Wimbledon, and England won the Cricket World Cup in an match that went down to the last ball. And there was an All Elite Wrestling show the night before. I was exhausted just sitting on the settee.

Oh, and the new contract. It's not perfect, but none of them are really. It has its negatives, but a few positives as well. I guess I just need to learn to focus on the latter, while ignoring the former.

At What Cost

I've got a new contract starting Monday. But it's for twelve months, so I better hope I like it a lot more than the last one.

But more importantly, I have just found out that the pills I have been taking for my hiatus hernia, pills that it seems just about every man over 40 in the world is taking, is causing quite a few side effects, which include that weird red eye problem I had the other week. So I'll probably stop taking them, and see what happens. If te hearturn gets bad again, maybe I can just drink milk or something.

Return to Watford

Back again in Watford after fourteen years.

I'm sat outside the pub that wouldn't hire me, facing the bank that wouldn't let me open an account. Fourteen years ago, I was here, sleeping on a friend's couch, and looking for work. I'm still looking for work, but thankfully this is just their head office, and the contract itself is in Central London.

I have to admit, I have mixed feelings about being back. It certainly doesn't feel like the same amount of time has passed as it did between leaving for Miami, and coming here in 2005. But that's just because I'm older now. Being here feels rather like going to an unwanted middle school reunion. Part of you wants to show off all the success you had, but the rest of you really couldn't give a shit.
