What A Show

Did you watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony?

I was very pleased that they had Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the invention of the web. He is someone who has changed the course of human history forever, yet is hardly ever mentioned or recognized. I also liked that despite the incredibly production values and amount of work that had gone into the whole event, the Queen didn't seem all that bothered at all!

What Hath Weather Wrought

It's sunny and 80°F! Everyone's happy! Well, almost.

After taking the first sick day of my entire life yesterday due to being the sickest I've ever been, I was greeted upon my return by trains full of my least favourite group of people on Earth: British teenagers. And another murder in Bournemouth. And someone at the station apparently had a gun and the whole station was shut down at lunch. And even more teenagers on the way home.

What The Hell?

Just after I moved in about two and a half years ago, my neighbour was arrested for beating up his girlfriend. He put up such a fight that the police threatened to taser him.

A few weeks ago, the mentally deranged father of another neighbour was hauled off by the police at five in the morning. He too, put up a good fight and thus left my front door looking like a bear had tried to get in.

Yesterday afternoon, while everyone in the office was thinking about going home and wondering what to have for dinner, someone in the apartment building behind our office chopped off someone else's head with a machete.

Thanks for my nice "welcome home", England. I feel like Simba in 'The Lion King' when he comes back to Pride Rock and it's all a mess.

Chariots of Water

The Olympics came to Lymington yesterday. In typical English fashion, as soon as the torch got off the bus, the heavens opened. It's a shame, but I had the classic 'Chariots of Fire' playing on my headphones, so that made it seems all the more majestic! For some strange reason, they decided to lets cars go on the road, despite the torch coming through. Not sure who was in charge, but I don't think they quite had the situation under control.

Quiz Comeback

Remember last time we went to the Sway Carnival Pub Quiz. We came last. This year, we knew we probably were not doing to do much better. But through the help of easier questions, and a few answers from other people, we managed to come in third! That's a bit more familiar territory!

Lots Of Stuff

We're still thinking about storage, so we don't damage all of the things in the garage. I've found out plastic containers still won't help that much, and if I'm serious, I need to find professional, climate controlled storage. I think if I ever end up buying a house, it's going to be more like a museum, what with all the thing's I've accumulated over the years!
