Like Another World

Dad and I had a great time at the tennis and unfortunatley saw Federer loose just as we got there. We then saw a match between Henin, and a big burly Russian girl. But it's like a different world down there. It's all spottless grounds and blond people. But hanging out with all these Jose Mournahino look-a-likes made me feel rich and posh.

Now that spring break is finally over and the Winter Music Conference finished, everything is back to normal on the beach. At last.

All Clear

I went for a blood test on saturday morning as my doctor had required me to do, and it turns out I'm in good shape. Score. I was going to take the car to the shop, but since it was a saturday, they were just about to close, so it'll have to be next weekend.

Dad and I are going to the tennis tomorrow night. I'll let you know who we see.

By the way, remember how I was all excited about that 'Ninja Turtles' movie? All for nothing it seems. Go rent the original.

No coolant

Yeah, my car ran out of coolant on the way to work. Luckily it was raining so had the heater on and my car's trick "cut off two cylinders when it overheats" kicked in. But when I got to work, the truth was staring me right in the face. On the way home I bought coolant, but the only kind they had was concentrate, so I had to buy water as well. When I got home I noticed it was nearly all gone, so I'll have to fill 'er up again tomorrow morning.

It never rains... eh?

Lovely weather

Yes the weather has been absolutely beautiful these past few days. Especially over the lovely weekend I had.

And how's this for irony. The day before I was scheduled to have my tires replaced, one of them goes flat on my on the dolphin expressway. But I must say, those Pirelli tires were worth every penny. I didn't even realise it was flat untill after 3 miles of going 65 mph, I realise the funny noise is coming from my car, and I turn off and pull into the Hilton. I thought it might be my exhaust, but lo, it was a flat. And despite having a Lusitania sized hole in the sidewall, it still maintained much of it's structure and didn't look as flat as every other flat tire I've ever seen. These new Kumhos have a lot to live up to.

Spring Break

For the second year running, I've been out of school and watching all the kids have spring break, whilst I slave away. Living on the beach sort of rubs it in my face, but then I rub it back in their's when they all have to go back to whatever weird state they live in. Take that springbreakers-who-ruin-my-drive-home-by-clogging-up-the-roads!

Happy St. Patrick's Day for the weekend. I've got a few spots I'm to make an appearance, but I think my regular pub is going to be packed solid, seeing as how it's an Irish pub, so I might skip it.

Excitement in the Projects!

I've lived in Florida for 16 years and ten of those were in south florida. I went to a school in the lower-income part of town for four years, and have been living in south beach for nearly a year now. And in all that time, I never had any real problems with crime. Touch wood.

Today, Dad's company had some sort of corporate charity gig where a bunch of big Miami companies went to a housing project in the ghetto and gave it a new coat of paint. So Dad and I tag along and it was pretty cool talking with everyone and painting the walls and fences. After a very nice BBQ, we then jump on a charter bus to take us back to company headquaters to pick up the car. And some kid shoots the bus. Bang.

Not with a real gun, it sounded like a powerful bb gun or maybe even a rock, but it broke the window, so the bus driver pulled over the the side of the raod, got out, found a policeman, jumped in the back of his car, and drove off. Leaving us on a bus in the middle of the ghetto. I should also add that Dad and I were the only men on the bus, so that added to my amusement. Seizing the opportunity, I did such couragous things, as try to work on the onboad DVD player and try to find the radio to call for another bus to come pick us up, which they eventually did, but I think most other people were a little more scared than they let on.

I, of course, kept everyone amused with stories of how I was going to use this as an excuse to get free drinks at the bar tonight and how, in five years time, this story will have grown so overblown, that I'd be saying we were assaulted from all sides by a gang armed to the teeth and I single handedly fought them off and saved a bus full of fashion models. Just you watch!

The Job

Sorry for not posting sooner.

I spoke to the chap at the company I applied for, and apparently I'm the top candidate for the job. Yeeha! But I've been in contact with the local nightlife channel, and they said although they're full, they might consider me anyway. If it comes down to the two, I might have to leave common sense behind. Again.

Oh and I saw the Beegees on sunday. They were holding some sort of press conference or something at the park down the road. And speaking of the neighborhood, remember last year when I said I parked next to a brand new Rolls Royce Phantom, well today I parked next to her predecessor, the Silver Seraph. At least I don't have to worry about my doors getting dinged.
