Don't worry folks, I wasn't in central London when the bombs went off. I was watching 'Homes Under The Hammer' when it got interrputed with the news. All transport in London was shut down for a few hours, but luckily no one I know got hurt.
Props to the emergency crews who did a fantastic jobs of helping everyone calmly and with amazing efficiency. Props too, for Londoners who didn't panic and who worked with saftey crews to make sure everyone got to hospital.
What's interesting to note, is that even though all public transport was completely shut down, busses were working by the afternoon (except to the affected areas) and were free. In addition, landline trains also resumed serivice by the afternoon, even running a train in and out of King's Cross. This morning the tube is back up, except for the Circle, Hammersmith & City, and the Metro after Baker Street. It certainly makes you proud to see people returning to normal so quickly. The news said by mid afternoon, nealry everyone was back to normal and going to work, or going shopping. What did affect everyone though, was the transport, with roads outside London gridlocked and many people just getting a hotel room for the night. Heck, even the BBC News 24 coverage, which was showing on all BBC channels, switched back to normal by around 5 o'clock.
Take that terrorists.
