Bathroom Betrayal

The company i applied for two days ago called when I was on the toilet. He didn't leave his extention so when I tried to call back, I had to use their strange database to get ahold of of the right extention, but he wasn't there. Figures.

I've also applied for an internship with Project Firefly which is made up of the remains of Disney Feature Film Animation's Orlando unit. I know I should have had aan internship when I was actually at school, but better late than never I suppose. Plus I know someone that works there and they got their job through this same internship. Let's hope it works for me.

I also watched the end of 'Good Will Hunting' last ngiht, which I had never seen before.

Back in Orlando

Wow! Everyone's new! There's a bunch of new teachers, a bunch of new students, and I swung by Panera, and there's a bunch of new people there too! What's going on?

An old teacher of mine has given me some contacts to check out, and he said he's going to talk to some people for me, so that should be cool. Oh yeah, and a game recruiting agency in south florida told me not to use agencies if I have no experience. Hmmm...

A new episode

And thus begins a new episode. I'm off to Orlando today where I'm gonna be staying with a family friend. Let's hope I can have better luck on the job market in o-town than in Europe, eh?

Here's something that ticked me off though. In case you don't follow F1, Alonso has just become the world's youngest ever champ, and where did our local paper put the story? Why near the back of the sports section of course. What ran on the front page of the sports section? I can't even remember. Some crap about crappy sports that I don't give a crap about. At least they showed the race on cable tv. Still, after this year's US GP disaster, who'd blame them.

News Dominating the Headlines!

It turns out that hurricane is getting weaker, but the levees in New Orleans have broken already. These yanks don't know what they're doing when it comes to flood prevention do they, eh?

Cuban refugees are in a boat off the coast of Miami, and the coast guard is try to make sure they don't reach land, becuase then they have political assylum due to the fact that Cuba is communist. The less said there the better I think.

And I hear that there's a terrorist in Manchester airport. I can't find out too much from the tv over here becuase it's (quite rightly so) filled with coverage fo the hurricane. Poor buggers.

I'm going out tonight, probably to the movies. I need to catch up. Then, it's offto Orlando next week. By the way, Clare told Mum that after I left, the benifit people contacted her and said I was eligable for 50 pounds a week benifit.

Welcome to Florida...

... the hurricane comes today. Yeah, that's what I heard when I went through customs. It's going on right now, but it's hitting the keys, so we're not having any real problems. I even went down to the food shop.

Off up to Orlando later this week, and my quest to get the job of my dreams continues. But as for today, I'm watching mvoes and playing video games all day. Good stuff.

Oh, and the Revolution Controller? Well they had to didn't they.

Update!: Nothing happened!

I just looked through one of my old textbooks and laughed myself silly over the funny captions I wrote inside. The people that got textbooks after me in school were in luck if they were bored.

Untitled

I went out with Clemens last night to play pool. Luckily I didn't fall off my bike again. I figured out the trick is to keep looking ahead. Its rather sad that I'm teaching myself how to ride again bike at 22, as I thought thats something you never forget. I think the seat was too high though, so it might not be me, but it probably is.

By the way, I'm currently watching a new Inspector Gadget cartoon, and it's absolutley crap. it shows just how far kids tv has fallen. They patronize kids too much these days.

This is probably going to be my last post in Europe. This was originally set up to keep in contact with my friends in America, but it has now turned into an international follow-along, so I think I'll keep it going, at least untill I return next year. I've been thinking about what's happened this summer and what I'd have done differently and what I wouldn't. It's changed me and I am certainly grateful to all those who have helped me along the way. What makes me so sad about returning the America is not return itself (it's going to be great to see my friends again and the job opportunities are greater), but it's the poetic injustic. The way everything has transpiried makes it so much harder to go back. But don't think I'm giving up. I'll be back.

Adventures in the Netherlands

Here I am! First off, a six pack of heineken was 9 euros, which is like $12. Insane. Second off, the english cricket team is awesome. Third, there is something up with Saskia and Paul's wireless modem, that we spent all day working on. So if you're an IT proffessional, please drop me a line.

Mum and Dad are off somewhere this week, and I'm staying in town and hanging out with everyone. So if you see me around say hi.

Back in The Netherlands

I'm back in the Netherlands! I'm on Uncle Wim's computer, but since this is dial-up, I might be able to connect my computer downstairs, so we'll try that later. Lots of goings on over here, what with dad coming and so forth. I've just tried to contact Lost Toys, which is a Dutch videogames developer, but their website has vanished, so I'm not quite sure what's going on there...

But I did pick up the lastest issue of Édge, which has a couple of vaccancies in the back, so I'll need to check that out. Lets hope for thes best eh? And lets not talk about the England football team shall we?

Dunkirk style

Yes it's confirmed today, I'm retreating back to post-apocalyptic america to get a job. But don't think this is over Europe, I'll be back before you know it, and next time I'll be armed with experience to tackle you from all sides. Plus, I now have a bank account over here, so that's one major battle won.

Driving around the new forest today, it's amazing how absolutley brilliant everything looks when you know you won't be able to see it anymore. You appreciate the little things so much more. I think that's the feeling you get when you grow old and tell youngsters to enjoy life while they can. But you truley can't see it from their point of view untill you get there. They say to live every day as if it's you last, but let's face it. Nearly everyone would hijack a Ferrari and snog the nearest supermodel, so I don't know how literally you should take it.

What on earth's going on?

I just found out about what happened in New Orleans and the surrounding areas. It sounds like the end of the world. And the ripple effect of petrol prices rising isn't going to help. What's going to happen next?

I for one, think I should move to New Zealand. Nothing bad ever seems to happen to them.
