Well I Never

I often see at van on saturday mornings that has the logo of the UCF Knights on it's door. Today I remarked to the man that runs the laundrette about this and he replied "Oh that's Nigel. Hey Nigel, where did you get that logo?" He responed that it was from a university somewhere in Florida. "University of Central Florida, I think", he said.

Corporate Britain

The whole town is talking about it. The pub next to the church got approved on appeal. Needless to say, the only people who wanted it were the chavs.

Since we are not offered the same chance to appeal a decision, it's pointless to get angry or protest. Even if everyone boycotts it, there are enough hooligans and yobs around here that will come for the cheap drinks. I was hoping for maybe some 'Last of the Summer Wine' style hijinks to stop people going in, or everyone parking in front so the trucks can't deliver. The only thing we can hope for is it to be so bad that it has to get shut down. But I fear that might a solution where everybody loses.

Lego Conquered

When I was a boy, I was really into Lego. I progressed through Duplo, Fabuland, System and Technic. But there was one Technic set always at the end of the catalouge like the Crown Jewels that I knew I wasn't good enough for. Sitting there wih it's "ages 11 and up" tag was the Red Technic car. By the time I was old enough to build it, Lego had stopped production and I just moved on. I could have gotten the newer Technic car, but I always prefered the original.

Now thanks to eBay, I finally have the Red Technic car and I just spent five hours building it. Was I selling myself short? Could I have done it? No way. Not only is it really hard, but the instructions are absolutely rubbish. Still, I built it in the end, and that's the main thing.

You Can Not Be Serious

I went to see the final Harry Potter film yesterday. While the film was great and the noisey people were far away from me, another problem, uniquely English it seems, occured once again. In spades.

Why oh why does everyone feel the need to sit right next to me? I was the only person in the cinema, and people who came in afterwards sat behind me and right next to me. The only reason they couldn't sit in front is becuase the chair was "out or order", but they circumvented that by sitting next to it and in front of it. Then the same thing happened on the train home. Empty carriage, people sat right behind me. Seriously. Do I give off pheremones or something? Why didn't this work as well during Fashion Week?
