Back Down South

Back down here in Woollongong for James's birthday. I'm also picking up my suitcase with all my gear in it.

I went for a walk around my new neighbourhood this morning and found that there are two things it has an abundace of. Coffee shops and asian/indian restraunts. So if that's your bag, this is the place for you!

Not So Heavenly

So my new place isn't quite as flash as I remember it when I came through before, but at least it's close to work. I feel really weird knowing I'm never going to meet my landlord. I've always seen my landlords all the time and gotten along really well with them. This is going to seem very impersonal.

And why the hell do construction workers always feel the need to do their nosiest work before 8 o'clock? It's like tourettes or something. After 8, they're quiet as a whistle. But hey, it's not alike anyone's actually asleep before 8 are they! Hmm!

Yay?

I've got an apartment. I think. I after going through a 'Lion-O's Anointment' style gauntlet, I finally managed to show them enough proof of id and got them a cashier's check for the deposit. I move it either saturday or monday. Preferably saturday, so it'll be monday!!

I do need to buy a bed though, which sucks. However, it's the most modern apartment I've ever had. Everything is brand new and there is fancy expensive tile on the floor. And it's over an expensive pizza restraunt! Heaven!

All Over The Place

Dad is is Miami. Mum is in Southampton. And I am in Sydney. Unthinkable a hundred years ago, but spoken of so casually now.

I've given up on Bondi Beach. It's too far away and unlike South Beach, I don't have a car. Which coupled with the joke of a public transport system here, would no doubt have caused massive headaches. I'm checking out places in the 'fashionable' Surry Hills. Only thing is, becuase it's 'fashionable', it very difficult to get decent apartments. Although the hostel is rubbish, at least I'm not bleeding money like I did in New York. As a friend of mine once said "No more rookie mistakes!"

Not Much Going

So it turns out there isn't really that many apartments going on Bondi Beach. Or in general really. I've gone to check out several, but I've only seen one or two (in the same building, no less) that I wasn't horrified at. Time is running out, so I suppose I'll have to take one of them, but I was hoping for something a little better.

At least I have a bank account! And one that doesn't charge me for the "hassle" of looking after my money.

Looking For An Abode

I've been looking for a place to live (preferably Bondi Beach, but I might go to Surry Hills). I'm checking out one place tomorrow at lunch, and I know there is one or two going in a building I looked at before. I just want to make sure I like it. I don't want to have the same thing happen that happened in Queens. I get a place and the spend six weeks wondering why the hell I rented it.

The weather's getting colder as well. Which, being May is a little weird for me!
