This Is 40

When I started this blog, I was 21.

As of today, I am 40.

Yikes.

I've just come back from visiting Florida again with Jen, where we went on a cruise with my college buddies and their families. This was my first ever cruise without the "halo effect" of Dad's position.

First off: we had a great time. Hanging out with the guys, exploring Nassau on our own, and everyone chilling on the beach at Royal Caribbean's private island. Oh yeah: this was also my first time on Royal Caribbean. That means I've now been on Premier Cruises, Disney, Carnival, Celebrity, and now Royal. There was so much to do on board as well. Including lounging in hot tubs, where I sadly broke my phone!

The dining room service was... not what I remember it being in 2004 when I was last on board a ship. Not even close. But I noticed that to the passengers on board, it didn't matter. The company also owns Celebrity and SilverSeas, both of which cater to older, more traditional passengers. I did wonder each night what Dad would have thought. When a waiter brought out Jen's dessert, he pointed at me and asked "Did he order dessert? Do you remember what is was?"
