RIP

Michael Jackson, King of Pop and idol of the eighties kids has died. It's not something anyone was prepared for. Especially us eighties kids. He was never old to us, so we were never ready for him to go. When Farah Fawcett and Ed McMahon died, they were older, so it came as less of a shock.

I think unless you were a child in the eighties, you really can't fathom just how awesome he was. His music was the best. His videos were the best. His dancing was the best. He was the King of Pop in every sense of the word. It was incredible.

Oh and Billy Mays is dead too. Four celebs in a week. Is there something in the water?

Finally Found

After on-again off-again attempts for 18 years, I have finally caught Carmen Sandiego.

Long version: When we first returned to Miami in '91, we bought an Amiga because back in Britain, they were the Rolls-Royce of computers to me. They had everything I could ever want and I envied them immensely. But with my newfound Amiga, I needed a game, so we went to the store and bought 'Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego' based on the cover.

Since I didn't want to mess up the game, I made it write-protected, which means I never saved my game. Which means I never won.

In college, I downloaded the PC version, but that was weak sauce next to the awesome Amiga version. But last sunday I got my Amiga emulator working and downloaded the real version of Carmen World. And beat it. I beat it so bad when I tried to sign in again, it told me I was on a hit list and to use another name! Yeah!

Quiz Masters

Gloria and I are a quiz team at one of the pubs down here. We came third last week and won a bottle of wine! That makes two cities on the trot I've entered a pub quiz and came in the top three!

The rain is very interesting over here. It seems to rain as often as Britain, but with the intensity of Miami. So it's pretty full-on. I only live close by, so I don't feel the need to get an umbrella (ella, ella, ay ay ay), but if it continues like this, I might have to.

Entertainment

I went to see 'Terminator Salvation' the other day. And having seen so many films in the states, I was expecting alot more audience participation. Everyone knows how much I don't like people talking in the theatre, but I love it when they gasp and laugh at appropriate moments. So when Arnold walks out like it's 1984, I say something like "Awww hell yeah, it's on now!" and everyone looks at me like I've grown another head.

Since I've had to leave my beloved Wii back in America, I've been playing alot of old games on emulators. I have realised two things, number one, FIFA '96 is not as good as I remember, and 2) little kids back in the day must have been insanely good at videogames. Especially MegaMan. That's just ridiculous.

The New Metroid

It's been ages since I posted anything videogame related. To be honest, I haven't really cared about E3 in about five years. This has all changed:
