Dad's Moves

Dad has now moved from the hospice to a permanent care home here in town. We're hoping that they can better take care of his needs long term. There's going to be a few days of adjustment, but let's hope he is comfortable. At least they have Wi-Fi there, so hopefully Dad can start to reconnect with the outside world a little better than he was doing before, but even then, moving an iPad onto his lap is now starting to become a struggle.

Uncle Wim Is Here!

On Wednesday evening, Uncle Wim flew over to visit Dad. We were told last week that Dad had developed another chest infection, and that he was refusing antibiotics. Last time he had a chest infection, he wound up in the hospital because he was unable to breathe.

But this time, it seems the infection has cleared up. I think. To be honest, communication has been... bad. I went several weeks ago to a local care home, and left my details with them. Dad was originally going to be discharged there, but when he contracted the chest infection, they said he would stay at the hospice instead.

Except now he's not staying, as the care home called me to say his chest infection has cleared up, and that he's arriving early next week. What is the care home telling me this, and not the hospice that I visit every day? What if I hadn't have been to see them, and they didn't have my details? Would I have just shown up at the hospice one day to find Dad no longer there? I know we're not allowed to criticise health care even one bit, but oh man has it been adding so much frustration to an already frustrating time.
