The Next Challenge

I've decided to leave Virgin Media. I really love working with the people, but it was time to move on.

But in typical, let's make this as difficult as possible style, I've not yet secured another contract. Which is handy, as it gives me a few weeks to work on my portfolio and learn new things. But it's a big gamble, as I don't know how long it will take to get another contract. Between one to four weeks has been the norm so far. At least I'm paid 30 days after I invoice, so I won't be starving.

Gloucestershire

We went up to visit Aunty Rhoda in Stroud, Gloucestershire. It's always interesting to visit a part of the country I've never seen before. It has lovely countryside and the old architecture has a lot of character. I think Jeremy Clarkson lives near there in the Cotswolds.

2015

This is it. The future, as told by Back to the Future part II. 2005, from the Transformers movie, always seemed like it was right around the corner, so it wasn't too much of a big deal when it finally came around. But 2015 always felt like it was in some sort of Never Never Land where it would always be the bright future on the horizon. But it's here now, and we don't seem to have flying cars or even the ability to watch multiple channels at once, despite the fact that English cable television could do that back in '90.

I feel like if I don't place a bet on the Chicago Cubs to win the World Series, I have let down my younger self. Which is never the best outcome. High five if you get that reference!
