Bournemouth Calls Again

Back on the train to Bournemouth.

It's nice to work with friends, and it's certainly nice to come home to my own place every evening. But when I'm down here, I don't get to see Jen during the week, not to mention the money is quite a bit less; so I've had to make some "lifestyle changes" as they say. I'm down here for a month, and then it's back to London. If the country hasn't completely decended into Mad Max style anarchy, as the press keep insisting is going to happen any day now. Part of me thinks one side's going to blink and conceed to the other. But which side will it be? My money's on us.

At least the trains are a bit better scheduled than the last time I used them to commute that way. So there's that.

Ring In The New Year

Happy new year! Jen was down for a week just after Christmas. We spent the holiday vegging out and watching movies.

But to kick off the new year with a bang, I had an endoscopy. My heartburn, with which I've had my whole life, has been getting really bad over the last few months. Whilst in Florida, Carl told me it might be Barretts syndrome. After talking with my doctor, he recommended the endoscopy.

Everyone I spoke to who had one said they hadn't been knocked out, so to defend my masculinity, I had to be awake as well. Which was a colossal mistake as the whole thing was a horrible, traumatic experience! Turns out I have a hernia, for which they recommended surgery. I'm going to try medicine first, as surgery seems a bit drastic.
