The Tax Man

I've got an accountant working out how much I owe the tax man. I'm a little annoyed, as he's had my books for four months, and he's only just getting around to it. Might look for someone else once this is all said and done. Although I'm probably going to be paying a lower tax rate, it still not very nice to have to pay taxes after you've earned the money. When I was permanent, the taxes always came out beforehand, so it was like you never even had it in the first place.

The Summer Months

I've been keeping an eye on the housing market, but I've also been planning a holiday at the Beginning of October. Being a contractor means that if I don't work, I don't get paid. Naturally, the few weeks between contracts is time off, but it's not like I can go off on a proper holiday, as I never know when I'm going to need to go for an interview.

The reason I chose the beginning of October is because that's when my contract is up. Rather than automatically say "yes" to a renewal, I think I might see what other offers come through around that time. It's nice to keep your options open.
