Batman

Mum and I went to the Royal Botanic Gardens. As we were having lunch, I could hear really loud birds behind us. So I turn around and see a tree not full of birds, but full of bats! Then I look the other way and see another tree full of bats. The were loads of bat-trees everywhere! It was freaky! No wonder they don't let people in the park at night, because they'll get freaked out by the bats everywhere!

Dunna dunna dunna dunna dunna dunna dunna dunna Batpark!

Mum's Here

Mum arrived yesterday, safe and sound. Speaking of arrivals, I have a new cousin, as Amy had a baby over the weekend.

So it's new people in Australia all around! Mum said that the weather was really nice when she arrived, and I agree. So that's a good sign that summer is on it's way. Which almost being in september, is a little weird.

GI Joe Is Great!

I saw GI Joe over the weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised! I think I was grinning for most of the movie. I'll be first in line to shout about what they got wrong. Cobra Commander's background is stupid, Damon Wayans has no place in there at all, and the Baroness's background is an absolute disaster.

But I'm willing to overlook those things. Maybe it's the complete manhandling of Transformers by just about everyone who gets their grubby mits on them, but GI Joe seems to come out much better!

Great Quiz Answer

During last night's quiz, on of the questions was "At what University does Robert Langdon teach in 'The Da Vinci Code'?"

Without missing a beat, an American on the table next to me said "DeVry". I wanted to high five him on the spot.

Comic Fix

Every saturday I go to the brand new library down the road and read Asterix and Tintin comics. However, I'm starting to get to the end of their Asterix collection, and some greedy kid has taken all of the Tintin comics and won't return them. Another thing that baffles me about the library is that sometimes they have 'live performers' in the afternoon. I was always under the impression you wern't supposed to make noise in the library. Oh, how times have changed!

It's Potter Time!

I saw the newest Harry Potter movie on sunday (still haven't read the last book). I noticed the cinema was mostly full of people like me, who were too embarrassed to ask their friends to come along and were desperately try to not get noticed by anybody. It was a good movie though, better than I expected. It's interesting how over here how most people seem to show up about ten minutes after the movie's started...

I wanted to theatre hop into GI Joe to relive some high school high jinks, but over here they don't put what movie is showing outside the door, and I didn't fancy guessing. Knowing my luck I would have wound up in 'The Ugly Truth' or something like that.

Rock On

I went to see a friend's band play this weekend. I haven't been to see local bands in a while, so it was cool to get back into that 'scene' again. I always feel a bit weird when I see someone I know sing. It's like karaoke, but you're not supposed to laugh. Not that I wanted to, but it's always a crutch if things get weird.
