We're Not That Good

I wondered this afternoon, why does England think it's so good at football? The Premier League may be the most competitive and most watched sports league on planet Earth, but it's half full of foreign players, so I don't know why everyone thinks that will be reflected in the national team.

It's not even like we're used to winning. I'll bet Uruguay doesn't go on and on about it's wins back in the 30s. The sooner we realise that we're not very good, the less disapointed we'll all be when we crash out and start blaming all and sundry.

Mr. Wahlberg

Every so often, people say I look like Mark Wahlberg. Judging by his legions of fans, I like to take it as a compliment.

We have a directory at work that has everyone's details and a photo. I'm very camera shy and don't want any pictures of me floating around anywhere, so I've managed to avoid supplying them with one. But now that they have a few of meet at work events that they were threatening to put up, I had to comply. So I sent them a picture of Mark Wahlberg. The girl in charge looked at the picture, squinted, then said "yeah, that's fine".

Oh Dear

I turned 27 this past wednesday. Which I think is the average age of the England team, so I can understand the immense pressure this country puts on them to perform. It's obvious they are just nervous.

But that doesn't stop it from being an embarassment. Bookies had them at 7/1 to win the tournament. I don't think they have a chance in hell now. Ollie summed it up best: "They make it look hard".

Yob Pigeons

I keep getting woken up early every day. No, not by construction like I normally do. This is Lymington. I get woken up by pigeon hooligans.

They seem to hang out in the corner of the roof near by bedroom window and just make "hoo"ing noises all morning. And when I open the curtains to see, they all scamper, just like kids in a back alley getting high of aerosol cans.

At least the 'Glee' finale was pretty good.

England vs America

The World Cup began yesterday, and tonight England plays their first match against the United States.

Everyone at work keeps asking if I have "divided loyalties" in the tournament. Well I do, but it's not between England and America. We'll never here the end of it if they win.

Return Of The Underground

As everyone knows, I prefer the London Underground to the New York Subway. And I stand by that. The Underground is cleaner, more frequent, better signposted and better layed out. But the Subway has one massive trump card. It's cheap as hell.

Underground prices seem to have double in the five years since I left Watford. It cost me £4.00 to go from zone 2 to zone 1, as opposed to the $2.00 it would cost in the Big Apple to go anywhere at all. You get what you pay for I suppose.

London Town

I'm off to London tommorrow. People say it's hotter there than it is down here. I just laugh and show them the weather report for Miami. And tell them to add an additional ten degrees for humidity.

It's half term now, so we had all the high school kids down in Bournemouth becuase of the beach. They all make me feel so old.

Still Raining

I've decided to keep it going.

As I mentioned before, there's no real ending to this anymore, but if you want to tag along anyway, you're more than welcome. If the last five years was a movie, think of this now as the tv show that inevitably follows. Or something.
