Weddings, Royal & Otherwise

Jen and I went to a wedding last Saturday. It was friends of ours, and not the Royal wedding, in case you were wondering. I didn't even get to watch the Royals on television, as we were travelling. It was in Essex, and we stayed at a lovely old country estate. The rolling hills and countryside are a part of Essex not regularly shown in the media. It reminds me a lot of the South Downs.

My phone was finally repaired, only for it to break 24 hours later. So I've had to buy a new one, and pick it up on Tuesday. This cheap one I bought to use temporarily is absolute rubbish. Had I known the problem, I would have bought the replacement phone right off the bat.

I've also gotten new blinds. I used to have blackout curtains. But because that means I either have privacy & darkness, or light but complete exposure, I thought it was time for an upgrade. So the blinds are down at night. and thin curtains are drawn during the day.

I even managed to finally get my bed to stop squeaking, by replacing my middle beam. No more creaking like the Titanic every time I get up to use the loo!

A Very Modern Disaster

I only bought a smartphone about two and a half years ago. I told myself I wasn't going to become one of those smartphone addicts, but the more I used it, the more it became inevitable.

But I never backed up my data to the cloud. I knew that "the cloud" was simply someone else's computer. Until the inevitable happened, and my smartphone broke. And I hadn't manually backed up my photos and chats in two months.

Now I need to send it to Sony and pay for them to repair the USB port. Needless to say, if I get it back, I am certainly going to back up to the cloud from now on. As a friend of mine once said "it's the kind of mistake you only make once."
