One Small Step

And now Neil Armstrong has passed away as well. I would write a big post on it, but I think NBC hit the nail on the head with their story.

The Count

The voice of The Count, one of my favourite Sesame Street characters, has died.

I always loved The Count becuase everytime he counted, thunder and lightening would go off and he laugh a big hearty laugh. And what with his cool cape (everyone who has a cape is automatically cool) and bats and castle, he was great. What with Mr. Rogers gone too, the television of my early childhood spent in Miami Lakes is slowly fading away.

Weddings & Kilts

Just got back from Grace & Danny's wedding and had a fantastic time. What with the lovely hot weather we've been having, I have to admit, the kilts the lads were wearing were probably a good idea. England's not really setup for hot weather, and therefore there's no a/c anywhere. Still, it makes everyone happy, so you can't complain!

End Of The Olympics

Tonight is the Olympics closing ceremony. I think Great Britain did rather well to come in third. I don't think we've ranked that high in decades. It was nice to be able to watch all the sports as well. I can't stand the BBC's commentators, and their desire to turn everything into a "magazine" style show seems to persist. But I can't fault the breadth of their coverage. I've just been reading that many Americans feel that NBC dropped the ball, so to speak, with their coverage. I'm not surprised, but I think anyone visiting London would have felt spoilt rotten when they saw how much we were showing.

Olympics Mania

Everyone seems to be going mad for the Olympics! We have it on all the time at work, and every day the papers are filled with great stories about athletes overcoming the odds. I'm so proud of how well it's all gone (so far anyway) and hope that it can leave a positive legacy once it's over.

I even got to witness it myself over the weekend. I went up to London to watch 'The Dark Knight Rises' with Lewis at the Imax, and we caught the triathlon in Hyde Park as well! Great Britain didn't win, but just to make it to the end is a feat unto itself!
