Poundbury

Last weekend, Jen and I went to Poundbury in Dorset. It's a relatively new town built by Prince Charles, and it's quite controversial. That's because it's built using lovely old picturesque traditional architecture! This has upset this establishment and trendy Londoners, but we thought it was great. And because it's planned correctly, there's so much parking! Unlike a town with rampant expansion, like say, Lymington! Haha!

And the heatwave is finally over. Back to being able to sleep properly at last!

Boris Bikes, New Flats, And More Heat

We're actually in a bit of a lull with the heat wave, so I've been catching up on sleep. Well, trying to. It seems my new landlady completely failed to tell me that the upstairs neighbors work at a nightclub, so they're up almost all night. Great. I know cities are noisey, but I can't help thinking London is going out of its way now.

And I finally rode a Boris Bike this evening. Seeing as how it's been nine years since I last rode a bike (in Melbourne, if you can remember), my thighs are going to burn tomorrow, and I really didn't feel comfortable at all with all the other cyclists whizzing past. Not sure if I'm going to try that again.
