Curtains Finally Sorted

I've finally found a solution to my curtains problem. After trying dozens of different things to get them to stay up, I bought a shower rod and put it betweent the hinges used to hang up blinds. So now, hopefully, it will stay.

The weather here is a bit odd too. Last week it was really warm, but this week its gone back to being cold. I'm not used to this "seasons" business. I'm used to it being hot. Full stop. With a week of mild weather that acts as "winter".

Return From Orlando

It was a lovely weekend down in Orlando. I got to see Mum & Dad again, as well as all the gang from Orlando. The wedding was great fun, as was the reception afterwards at Melissa's parents' gigantic country estate. If there are a few more wedding coming up, I might find myself in a certain Hugh Grant movie, although I didn't meet Andie MacDowell.

On the way back my flight was delayed. Probably due to the pope.

Going To A Wedding

I'm flying down to Orlando tomorrow to go to Ed and Melissa's wedding, where I will be a groomsman for the first time, whatever that entails. I hope I don't have to remember any lines, as I'm pretty sure I'd flub them on the day. Been a while since acting school.

I'm actually going to cross paths with the pope as well, as he flies in the morning I leave. I'm not catholic, but I wouldn't mind going to see him, just so I can say I've seen a pope. His sermons seem to have high production value as well. Might be a good show. We were talking at work, I wonder where he's staying. The Radisson?

Now I Know

I went to Newark, New Jersey yesterday with some friends to look at the cherry blossom trees. It's a big deal in Japan. It did feel kinda cool when the wind blew and all the petals flew off the trees. I felt like I was in 'House of Flying Daggers' or something.

But boy, Newark is crap. Like really, really, really ghetto. I honestly felt like I was going to get mugged. I saw about 5 blatant drug deals walking around when we were looking for somewhere to eat. Now I know why everyone in this part of the country made New York what it was. When we got back on the train, as soon as we stepped off, I just went "ohhhhhh, it feels good to be home." which is the first time since I've been here that I've really called New York home and ment it.

The last time I saw that many thugs, I was shot at. Rememeber that?

The Best In The World

I've found something in which New York is the best in the world: shops.

The Virgin Megastore Times Square was already my favorite store int he whole world, just from visiting it eleven years ago, but the other day I went to 'Whole Foods' market on houston, and it blew me away. It costs a small fortune, but the selection was second to none,adn they make you a brick oven pizza they sell by the pound, and pies, and cheeses, and sandwhiches, it's great! Then upstairs, they have a proper professional salad place, and proper fancy restraunt, and one of those trendy conveyour belt sushi places. But the best part is their beer department. They must have had over 1,000 beers from around the world with only 2 bad ones (fosters and pbr). They even had 3 (three!) Trappist Ales! I just walked around again and again with my jaw open. Fantastic!

And then there's the videogame shop round the corner. It looks like a rundown electronics shop from the outside, but insede, holy cow. I had to go back a second time, as the first time I went in, my brain overloaded and shut down as I couldn't take it all in. In addition to having thousands of games and videogame paraphanillia, they have every system ever made. Yes ever. Even that one. They even had variations on systems that I had never even heard of. You win that round New York.

European Weekend

There was a street market at Cooper Union down the raod yesterday, where I had oliebollen, although they didnt have raisens and they were mexican. They called them seomething else as well, but I can't remember. Then I went to Union Square, and becuase the sun was out and it was quite warm, there was all sorts of people out and about. There certainly are some weird looking people down in this part of the city.

Then today i went for lunch with Nikki & Mark, and afterwards found an English shop where I bought an easter egg than I've been looking for for two weeks. Better late than never eh?
