Five Years

I don't know if you noticed, but this blog has now been going for five years.

I've just spent two hours reading the whole thing and realised how naive I was when I started out. I've also being assessing the lifespan of this blog. The whole reason I got it in the first place is long gone, but even the reason I kept it is now finished. I'm home, I've got my TV, and I even have a fancy recliner couch.

I was thinking about cutting down the updates to only post when something interesting happens.

The Winter That Would Not End

Has finally ended. It's supposed to be 80°F this weekend.

I've gone from winter in New York to winter in Sydney to winter in Hampshire. Admitted, after God knows how long in South Florida, a genuine winter was a long time coming. But it did feel good to wear shorts for the first time in ages last weekend. I think when you have real seasons you learn to appreciate them all more.

In The Air Today

The air is full of little white things. It's like there was a giant dandelion and someone blew on it. I don't know if this is regular May behaviour, as I haven't been here for so long, but it sure never happened anywhere else.

And on the job front, I'm going to see if I can change my hours to 9:15 - 5:45 to line up with the trains, and get an extra half an hour in bed.

The Honey Monster

When I was a boy, one of the many things I was afraid of was the Honey Monster. He was in adverts for a cereal called Sugar Puffs. Children would see Sugar Puffs or hear about them and say "I want my honey!", then transform, werewolf-style, into the Honey Monster.

Last weekend I decided to buy Sugar Puffs and see what I was so afraid of. Turns out they're just Kellogg's Smacks, but not as sweet.

Election

It's on everyone's lips, and for good reason. The future of Great Britain & Northern Ireland is at stake. Who will Mr. Clegg choose? Will he ally himself with the Conservatives or Labour?

Election night isn't as good over here as it is in America, simply because I'm not staying up untill stupid o'clock on a school night to find out nobody's won. We knew Obama got the job before 10pm (if I recall) and you had time enough to get home and have a good night sleep. I wonder when David Dimbleby sleeps? He was on the air from 10pm untill gone 2pm the next day.

Howard's Way

It was Maria's birthday yesterday, and everyone went out on a boat around Southampton Water and the River Hamble. That's 'Howards Way' territory for those of you that remember that show. Yes, for discerning households it was essential viewing. Sort of like a sunday night 'A-Team' but without Mr. T.

And Jon Favreau deserves a medal, because 'Iron Man 2' is awesome. All films should be that film.
