Ollie got married last week! Congrats Ollie!

And the Weatherspoons has finally opened. What is surely the most controversial thing to happen to Lymington since... they withdrew the slam door trains? I don't know. The chicken factory residential development is probably going to hurt a lot more at the end of the day.

Anyway, it turns out it's not the yob magnet everyone thought it'd be, at least for the time being. In fact, word on the street is that it sucks. There's no atmosphere and the interior design is very "cold" and unwelcoming. People reckon it's going to hit the high street cafe's more than the pubs. Hopefully it will get old quickly and shut up shop.

First Real Test

I had my first true British driving test last night, as I drove to Bournemouth and back... in the fog! I can now understand why European cars handle so much better than their American counterparts. It's not style or any sort of marketing reason, it's serves a practical purpose. The roads are so small and windy, you need a car that can take on a corner properly. I would also argue that European road signs are better, as they point out place names, whereas across the pond, most signs just list road names.

Changing Jobs

I've decided to leave my current job for another one.

As many people know, I've had many a bad experience on the train, and the neighbourhood where I work is like a post-apocalyptic South Bronx. The clients we have at work can be very annoying and it has dulled my enthusiasm for the job. That being said, I do like the people I work with and if it wasn't for them, I would have left long ago. I'm going to be very sad to know that I'm probably not going to see many of them again.

I was originally going to go up to London to do contract work. Several people have told me it's a gold mine and despite the economy, there is more than enough work to go around. However my old pal Robin has put me in touch with someone right here in Lymington who runs a small boutique agency with big plans for growth. When the owner was explaining to me his plans, he sounded a bit like he'd just come back from a Tony Robbins convention. Am I making the wrong decision? It wouldn't be the first time, so at least I'll be prepared if it goes pear shaped.
