He-Man!

When I was little, I was a huge fan of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

This week, I stopped by the comic book shop in London and noticed they had an exhibition of actual animation cels and production sketches from the cartoon. Whilst admiring them, and remembering all my happy memories, I wondered how much they would cost to buy. My answer came in the form of a sign. They were from a private collection, but some of them were, in fact, for sale. Did I buy one? Well, what would my four year old self have done? He'd have bought two of course! So that's what I did!

Proms In The Park

Mum has had a lifelong dream of going to the Last Night of the Proms. In case you don't know what that is, the proms are a series of classical concerts over the summer. The Last Night is a celebration of famous and classic British music played at the Royal Albert Hall, finishing with all the traditional anthems everyone loves. However, tickets to the Last Night are like golddust. I've gone through all my London connections trying to buy some, but with no luck.

Proms in the Park is a new (well, 20 year old) tradition of having more contemporary music playing in Hyde Park, and then simulcasting the traditional songs at the end for a slingalong with the Royal Albert Hall. Mum, Jen, and I all went this year, and had a blast. It was raining when we got there, and people were dancing around in the wet, singing songs, and waving Union Jacks. It was fantastic! Luckily the weather cleared up and in the end, it was a memorable day for all!

It Finally Happened!

After three years of contracting in London, I'm finally working with someone I've worked with before. And not just before, but our previous contract as well!

I am unnecessarily excited about this!

Adventures in Summer

What a week!

Last weekend I went back to Holland for the first time in two or three years. Everyone is growing up and moving on with their lives. It's great to catch up with people you've known your whole life, or their whole life! The weekend before, we had a family BBQ here in England, so it's been a family fortnight!

Then yesterday I went to Essex for the first time. This is a county which has acquired quite a negative reputation as somewhere that's quite rough. I was only there for a few hours, but while the countryside was lovely, the small part I experienced flew quite close to the reputation a little more than I'd hoped. Not that anyone was bad, but it was a little intimidating considering I'm coming from the New Forest. Luckily the party we went to was nice. It was great to catch up with old work friends.

And finally, I thought I should probably provide a bit of a life update. For the last year, I have been dating a very lovely young lady named Jennifer. We met while I was working in London, and she's been down here to Lymington a few times to see the countryside, and my wicked cool apartment. I've not mentioned her before on here, as I felt that since this is a bit more of a serious relationship, I sort of wanted to keep it private and personal. But now that we've been together for a while, it only makes sense to introduce Jen on here too.
