Last Weekend Was Epic

Yes, this memorial day was one for the record books.

It probably could have been a contender for "Best Weekend Ever" on any one of it's merits, but all of them together make it a bookie's favorite.

Just want to say thanks to everyone that made it happen (you know who you are)!

Memorial Day Again

I'm staying clear of the beach this year, I saw enough last year to know better.

Got a packed weekend ahead of me with movies and parties and things. Went to a party last night downtown that wound up at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino, the one where Anna Nicole Smith died.

I had a brilliant time due entirely to the great people I was with, but I have to say I was a little dissapointed with the place. It seemed like a low-rent Universal CityWalk.

Hiccups

Becuase of the flooding the other day, they've added chlorine to the tap water on our road, so I've been smelling like a swimming pool all day and I can't get the taste out of my mouth. Still, better than drinking that brown water from 'Back to the Future 3'!

Apparently, someone was waiting for the vanpool driver when get got to work and told him off saying I wasn't supposed to ride for legal reasons. Well I'm not having that so I went over and charmed my way back on, but I don't know how long it will last. I didn't even have to see the person, it was all done through the very, very hot receptionist talking to them online.

Which makes me think I have a nemisis there that doesn't want me back. I haven't heard from the guy I applied to in two weeks, so I'm a little inquisative. Is it Col. Mustard in the library with the lead pipe? Is it Prof. Plumb in the kitchen with the rope?

My money's on someone, but I'm not saying who...

Waterworld

It's like the end of the world down here!

We had a terrific thunderstorm that lasted about 12 hours last night, and when I walked out my front door at about 12:30 and my landlord says "where are you going?" and I respond "the beach".

"Well you'd better take your shoes off then."

"Why is it bad out there?"

with no expression on his face, he responds "yeah."

"really?"

"yeah."

So me and the neighbors had spent all afternoon trying to de-flood the road. Quite a laugh really, with chatting to stranded people and watching wannabe macho men get stuck in the suv's while chaps in small cars whizz by.

Hey, I Got Some New Shoes On

And everybody's smiling, It so inviting, Oh, short on money, But long on time...

I never really like that song untill I actually got some new shoes, then it all seemed clear.

You know how I love my inside jokes, well one backfired in my face today.

I'm riding the van home and everyone else is on their laptops when a commercial comes on the radio and this guy says:

"I put my pants on one leg at a time." To which I of course immediately responded with:

"But when I put my pants on, I make hit records."

Silence. No one got it. To save any sort of face at all I had to say "SNL? Christopher Walken? Cowbell?" One girl piped up "oh yeah..."

Bah!

The Triumphant Return... Sort Of

I'm back on the van as of yesterday, but only for this week. Afterwards its on a "wait and see" basis. Still, better than nothing.

And to top it all off, my friends got me into a big party held by my old company, so that was great! But one thing was strange, one of the idiots from the office down the hall decided to come down and drink their beer. Even I didn't have the audacity to do that and I was invited. I was going to say something, but seeing as how I wasn't really supposed to be there either, I didn't think it was my place. Anyway, I still had a good time!

Return of The Vanpool?

Maybe...

I spoke with the driver today, and apparently it's overloaded as it is. There are two people waiting in line in front of me, and there probably won't be another van coming, as they're phasing out the vanpools, with the excpetion of the South Beach one.

So seeing as how there are two other blokes in the same boat, I'm meeting with everyone on monday to discuss what'll happen. Worst comes to worst, people with have to carpool seperatly, and rotate who rides the van.

Summer Has Arrived!

And that's probably why I saw some guy's truck burst into flames on the way home from Publix.

Going to the beach was suicide over the weekend. You could almost feel yourself getting roasted and when you looked down Ocean Drive, the heat waves we're so exagerated, it seemed like a comical special effect.

Good thing I had 'Harry Potter and the Last Book That Came Out' to read (which I did, in a day and a half, new record)! Boy it was rough! They sure had balls selling that one in the kids section. But fantastic nonetheless. Best of the bunch.
