Dad's Last Party
Dad's funeral was this past Monday. Part of the reason I was stressed was that I didn't know if we knew exactly how many people were coming. It turns out that it was quite a few more, but we still wound up with over half the food left at the end of the party, so I'm certainly glad we had the large, diverse turnout we did in the end. The reception was lovely, and Dad must have held the clouds at bay, as the weather report said it was going to rain, but there wasn't a cloud in the sky.
The service didn't exactly go without a hitch. I think the M.C., or eulogiser, or whatever he is called, used the first draft of his speech, which lacked the very important corrections we added when he sent it for review. He also pronounced Dad's name wrong the whole time. But there's nothing we can do about that now.
The next steps are still to deal with accountants, solicitors, tax agencies, and all sorts of things like that. Good thing we've started to get all of the paperwork organised, but it's still going to be quite the headache.
