Another Great Accomplishment

I've just got my first contracting job. It will be with a company that makes websites I've been reading since high school! I found my way to the videogame industry after all. Medals all around!

Remember when I mentioned this?

A Great Acomplishment

Yesterday I watched all six Star Wars movies in a row. I've wanted to do that for eight years. Was it worth it?

Well, it was worth it to say I've done it, and I do feel a sense of completion. But I have to admit, I thought at the end I would have an epiphany or realize some great universal truth that I can use to help mankind. Instead I was just left with the realization that if you have R2-D2 on your team, you never, ever lose.

Days Out

Since I'm going to be working in London (hopefully), that means I've been going back and forth for job interviews lately. I originally was going to try and have them all on the same day, but things never plan out the way you want them, as I have learned. Due to changing jobs every year, I used to be quite calm and confident at job interviews. But now that I've been out of the game for three years, I'm finding I'm a bit more nervous this time. Although I don't feel as much pressure, as I'm not bleeding money in a hotel on the other side of the world!

Getting Sick

I'm just getting over a rather bad cold, but I realized that since I've got back to England, I've been getting sick with a much higher frequency than I ever have before. Back in Florida, I used to get sick maybe once a year, around the time everyone goes back to school. But here it seems to be every couple of months. I could understand if it happened when I first got back, as maybe I wasn't "used" to the germs over here. That happened the first week I lived in New York. True story.

Back On The Wagon

Not everyone gets to live out their dreams. Not everyone has the chance to accomplish something that has occupied their thoughts every day for close to two decades. Fortunately, I was one of those lucky people when I got the chance to move back here to The New Forest.

But there's something that few stories or fairy tales ever really explain. What do you do after you accomplish that goal. What are you supposed to do next? There was an advert for Mercedes Benz that said, after you realise your goal "drink it in, then pick a new one."

That's what I'm going to do. As of right now, I'm back on the wagon. London presents so many fantastic opportunities, it was getting to the point where not going was becoming a worse and worse idea. I know that I could stay here forever and be perfectly happy, but there is so much more out there. I need to see if I've still got what it takes. Doing contract work for different companies seems to cover all the bases. I've never done it before, but I've heard nothing but good things.

I shall be keeping my flat here, though. Both as somewhere I can come between contracts, and for personal reasons. I waited a long time to return home, and I don't want to feel like I'm giving up all this. I'd like to have my cake and eat it too.
