Everyone's Getting Married

I seems to have reached the age when everyone's getting married and having children. It's rather strange, as I certainly don't feel old enough or mature enough to do any of those things. But then again, I supposed I've always acted slightly younger than my years, even when I was young. It's funny, because in a lot of ways I'm very grown up. I balance my checkbook (man, there's an out of date phrase), I keep my apartment clean (I think), I can hold a steady job (well, we'll see how this one goes) and I can look after myself in a city where I don't know a soul.

But being grown up enough that I have to share my flat with someone else? No chance.

The New Forest In The Morning

It's nice to have such a short commute. It's not as short as it was in Sydney, but it's not too far away that it tires you out.

The structure of this new place is quite different to what is familiar to me. Due to the small size, we all have to wear multiple hats and do the roles of more the one person. This would be a problem, but the projects are so small that I think I would probably get done so quick and I'd need to find something to occupy my time. Naturally, I miss my friends at my old job. We've been emailing all week, so at least I get some of the old jokes, but I have to find a way to "break" my new coworkers. I need to get them to come around to my sense of humour.

Relief

I am no longer working in Bournemouth. I feel such a sense of freedom and satisfaction knowing that I no longer have to take the train to work anymore. That I'll now have an extra two hours a day that I no longer need to spend waiting around stations and riding around in those gross carriages any longer. That I don't have to work in that horrible neighbourhood with all the dregs of society. That I don't have to work with those awful, uncooperative clients anymore. I am now a real local in that I live and work here in the forest. A few years ago I used to wonder how awesome it would be to work here in Lymington, and now I've gotten my wish.
