Outbreak

For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past few days, mexico has decided to unleash pig flu on the world. Being down here in former HM Prison Australia, we have highly secure, protective quarantine measures in place.

At the airport, they ask you "how are you feeling?" Reeeeeal thourough boys.

How Typical!

Well I got the job I wanted, and it's fantastic!

But as you've found out, good things always come with a price with me. Remember how last sunday I moved down south? Well now I have a two and a half hour commute, instead of the 30 minute commute I would have had if I would have stayed at the hostel. As Alanis Morisette said, "Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?"

So I decided I'm going to be staying at the hostel during the week, and come down here on the weekends. I want to delay moving all my cases for as long as I can. And it's nice to spend the weekend with family.

Goodbye Hostel

I'm leaving the hostel/hotel tomorrow to move in with Lyndsay and the family down south. I'll be saving money, and I'll have a few more people to hang out with as well.

Since I've been here so long, I've come to recognize the people around. There's old Mr Grimgrumps on the front desk, the weirdo who sits in the same three chairs all day long with his backpack back-to-front, and that slightly odd-looking chap who's always on myspace. I keep wanting to say that line from 'Friday' when I see him, but change it to say "Everytime I'm in the computer room, you're in the computer room. Using up all the internet..."

Oh, and a pigeon pooped on me. Is that good luck?

Around The Corner

Hope everyone had a good Easter weekend. I did the patriotic(?) thing and watched 'Pride and Prejudice' for the first time. The Keira Knightley version of course. I have to admit there was one line good ol' Mr. Darcy used that I'll have to remember.

Elizabeth: "Do you dance?"
Mr. Darcy: [with a stone cold look on his face] "Not if I can help it."

Class. In other news, I hope to better know where I stand job-wise this week. So I can make my 'plans' around that...

Happy Easter

Happy Easter for this weekend. I'm going back down south for the weekend. Still no word on the job front. I haven't gotten a place yet, because I don't fancy commiting to a really long contract only to find I'm still out of work in two months. Let's just play it by ear.

I heard that the last remaining concorde not in a museum will have its wings cut off and sent to dubai. Bit of a kick in the teeth isn't it.

Wi-Fi For All

Screw that lousey hotel and their pay-as-you go wi-fi. I'm at the library on their free wireless, watching 60s Shaw Brothers Hong Kong action movies! Take that tyranny!

Get this! There was a guy staying at the hostel the other day who was from Fair Oak. Small world!
