The Type Of Weather

On sunny weekend mornings, when I look out the window, I often think back to when I worked at Publix. Every saturday, and most sundays, I would get up, watch cartoons, eat a bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and head off to work. Bagging groceries and taking them out to the customers' cars in 95°F weather wasn't always fun, and I often hated it. But looking back, I remember the fun we had joking with each other and the freedom to simply go outside and walk around when we were bored. We wern't suppoed to be tipped, but we often were; one former NFL player gave me $10. Dripping with sweat for hous at a time, it was the sort of job that built character. The sort that when you get older, you can bore young children with stories about long hours and physical labour. "It'll make a man out of you!" we could say.

What I Know Now

I just found a few old projects I did back in college. It's really odd looking at them, as I remember not knowing what I was doing at all, and it shows. I really wish I could just pop back ten years for like a day, and just help out 19 year old me. I almost feel like I should redo one or two of them now and see if I really do know far more than I did then, or if I'm just a lot better at telling people I do.

21st Century

For Christmas, I got a Nexus 7 tablet. Since I never graduated to owning a smartphone, this is my first taste of that world, and all the applications that run on those devices. I'm finding the games to be incredibly addictive, and wondering if I should learn how to make them myself. This probably means I've become a "casual gamer" and will thus be shunned by all my still-hardcore friends. I don't even own any Call of Duty games!

Not Used To It

After being off on holiday for about two and a half weeks, my body was not ready to go back to work today. My feet are killing me. Due to being ill last week, I think I only left the house once.

I don't think I've felt my legs and feet like this since I worked as a bag boy in Publix oh so many moon ago.
