Spoilt

I've started a new contract this week. It's six months long, which is the longest single contract I've ever had. I tend to stay away from long contracts in case I don't like the job. I'll start with what I do like.

The pay is great. The location is very close to where I stay in London, and the people are friendly.

Now for the bad.

They don't have free tea and coffee. Not only that, but if you bring your own, they charge for hot water. And it's a different price for each floor. The lifts are running some hideous new system where you can't just get into a lift; you have to wait for your specific lift. Which means it can take ten minutes to go two floors. Despite being a programmer, I'm in meetings all day. Not just daily stand-up meetings, but "planning to plan" type meetings. All, day, long. I don't have a desk. I have to borrow someone else's locker so I don't have to lug in my computer every day. Oh, and Victoria Station is virtually off limits during rush hour if you want to use the Tube.

But they pay is great, so there's that.

It's Groundhog Day. Again.

Last year, Jen got tickets to see the new Groundhog Day musical. Since it's one of my favourite movies of all time, I was a bit nervous, but the musical was really good. We keep saying we're going to see more, but I suspect I'll start singing along if we go and see The Lion King or Aladdin!

The last month hasn't been great. Health issues all over the place, tax issues, work issues, and it turns out my landlady in London has sold the apartment. The good news is that I have until September to move out, but I wish I didn't have to go in the first place.
