Mum's Return

Today is Mum's last full day in America. Tomorrow she travels back here to England for good. As you probably know, Mum & Dad will keep a flat in Florida but spend most of their time here. I have already made my farewells with America, but as long as we have that flat, I can always go back and reminisce.

It's victory all round I suppose.

New Identification

My very expensive provisional driver's license arrived the other day. This doesn't really change anything, as I still have my active American license, but it now means I don't have to carry that one around in my wallet anymore. Which is a bit of a shame as I prefer the picture on my US card. I look a bit like Don Johnson, as I hadn't shaved or showered before I went it to get the photo done. On my English license I look a bit like a math tutor.

London Mixup

I was supposed to go to London next weekend, but being rather incompetant I went up this week instead. Luckily, Lewis was able to shift his schedule around and we all went out for St Patrick's night. This was the first one I'd done properly in England and we went to an Irish pub that had a great band, but they got off stage at like 10pm and some rubbish DJ came on playing the sort of top 40 junk you hear on Radio 1.

Upcoming Events

Next months marks the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. When I was younger I was facinated by the Titanic and what became of it. I recently read that there is a danger she could collapse completely due to rust eating away at the hull and submersibles sitting on her decks during dives. Naturally, the stern is more at risk than the bow, but at this point I'm not sure there is much anyone can really do. Making a highly detailed 3-D rendering of the wreck and the site as a whole is probably the best bet, but that's expensive and incredibly time consuming.

Lymington Sherlock

Ever since I move back to Lymington, I occasionally hear a strange honking sound early in the morning. I've always thought it was someone honking the horn of their car, trying to get their kids to school or something. Then the other night when it was foggy, I heard it again, but it was much louder. I lay in bed thinking "Christ, it's as loud as foghorn..."

Then the penny dropped.
