Return To South Beach

Oh it was glorious!

Except for the fact that I had to drive there. And park. Which means I couldn't stay late, or drink. Oh well. It was great to see everyone again. The new construction is quite unnerving though.

Mike's up here for New Year's. So we're going to be ringing it in New York style! By not going to times square. Because everyone says it's too crowded.

Florida Christmas

Back down in Florida for Christmas. I flew down last saturday, which was sandwiched between two blizzards. So I was lucky to come down when I did.

I've also been having a bit of a movie marathon as well. We saw 'The Day The Earth Stood Still' the other day, then watched 'Home Alone' 1 & 2 back to back (for the first time ever), and had an early 90s movie extravaganza last night ('Encino Man', 'House Party 2', and 'Bill & Ted 1').

It's not Christmas without movies. And Slade.

Let It Snow!

On tuesday, I was listening to The Chris Moyles show, and he had The Ting Tings in the live lounge singing "Shut Up & Let It Snow!" I was singing along, and then looked out the window.

It was snowing.

The biggest snowflakes any of us had ever seen. The timing was incredible. And tommorrow it's supposed to snow quite heavily, so I'm going to see the tree in Rockerfeller Plaza and take my ipod loaded with Christmas music. Yeah!

Christmas Parties

I had my first ever official work Christmas "do" on friday. Now it seems like it's some sort of rule that everyone has to get really tipsy, but as just about everyone reading this knows, if they let me do that, they don't know what they're in for. So I drank modestly, and was the voice of reason by the end of the night.

Then last night, my friends and I went to a Christmas party, and realised we didn't know anyone there. But that didnt stop us gathering around the piano for a good old fashioned Christmas singsong. Like something out of Dickin's time.

Pretty Cool

The other night I was leaving and I made the same mistake again. I saw pollen on the tops of the cars outside, looked up, and wondered why it was in the air as well. It wasn't pollen, it was snowing of course! Walking around the east village at night when it's snowing is really pretty. It looks like it does in paintings.

On the way back from brooklyn, we took a cab over the williamsburg bridge, and saw the manhattan skyline silhouetted against the lit-up clouds overhead. Becuase most of the lights were out, including the Empire State Building, it was a truly impressive site.

Tree Lighting

I went to Rockafeller Plaza again to see the tree lighting ceremony. The Jonas Brothers and Britney Spears were there. So naturally, the line snaked around five blocks and you couldn't even get near it. Oh well.

"New" Hampshire was nice. Not as good as the real Hampshire, but everyone is New England is really friendly. Almost to the point that it gets a bit creepy. Probably becuase I'm used to South Florida and the attitdue of its 'residents'. I'm looking at you palmetto expressway drivers!
