Breakdown

On our way to see Michael in Southampton yesterday, the car broke down. We had just gone to the churchyard to tend Nan & Grandad's grave, and were driving up a slight hill in Burseldon. The car started lurching, and then just gave out.

It was fortunately in "limp mode", which meant we could at least get it into a side road, where we called the R.A.C. for assistance. Well, calling them just makes them send you a link to do it online these days. Michael came to collect Mum so she wouldn't have to wait in the car, and I stayed behind.

After about three hours, the R.A.C. kept pushing back the time they said they'd arrive. Since we didn't even know if they would be able to fix it at all, we decided to give up and call a local tow truck. He was a nice young man from Romania, and he managed to get us home. Now we just need to figure out what's wrong, and get it fixed so Mum can get back on the road.
